Reports have stated that Virat Kohli might not be included in India T20 WC squad.
Veteran Australian batter Steve Smith heaped praise on Virat Kohli's ability to adapt to different situations and play according to the demands of the game amidst suspense over his place in India’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Smith stressed that on certain pitches, maintaining a high strike rate isn't necessary, and Kohli adjusts his game accordingly while acknowledging Kohli's prowess in delivering standout performances under pressure.
Smith said that Kohli's ability to thrive under pressure makes him a valuable asset for any team, and India needs him and his experience in the T20 World Cup 2024. He also highlighted Kohli's proficiency in playing match-winning innings for both RCB and India.
Steve Smith told Star Sports: “Virat Kohli plays the situation. Some wickets you play on, your strike rate doesn't need to be high. You play according to what's in front of you. We have seen Virat play some masterclass innings and get his team over the line, whether it has been RCB or India.”
The Aussie star further explained, “I've been on the opposition in the Australian team when he has done this against us on numerous occasions. What we know is that he plays extremely well under pressure. He loves that.”
Smith signed off by saying, “It's those players who you want in your team when you go into the World Cup and face pressure situations. You want the experienced players who stand up in those situations, and Virat is certainly one of those.”
Virat Kohli will make his cricketing comeback in the IPL 2024 for RCB.
