Canada made 132/4 after winning the toss. Navneet Dhaliwal's 38-ball 45 at the top was the top score. Though they lost a few wickets in the middle, Harsh Thakker (21) and Nicholas Kirton (26*) helped Canada finish well.

Bermuda’s chase didn’t get off to a good start. Nikhil Dutta's off-spin claimed the key wickets of Kamau Leverock (23) and Delray Rawlins (1). Terryn Fray (30) and Allan Douglas (22) were the only other batters to get into double figures as Bermuda was dismissed for 93 in 16.5 overs.
They lost by 39 runs. Kaleem Sana and Jeremy Gordon took three wickets each for Canada.
This is the first time Canada will play in the T20 World Cup tournament. They have played in ODI World Cups in 1979, 2003, 2007 and 2011.
A total of six teams competed in the Americas qualifying for the T20 World Cup, with Argentina and Bahamas participating in sub-regional action in February this year. Having progressed from the sub-regionals, the Cayman Islands and Panama finished third and fourth respectively in the regional final.
The USA has already qualified as co-hosts and will have three venues to host the matches.
