England defeated Pakistan in an interesting final of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG to become only the second team to win the T20 title twice after the West Indies. On November 13, 2022, the Jos Buttler-led side also became the first team to simultaneously hold the ODI and T20I world titles.

Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pakistan struggled to get free-flowing on the pitch against a disciplined England bowling and only Shan Masood (38), Babar Azam (32), and Shadab Khan (20) managed significant scores as Pakistan managed 137/8.

For England, Sam Curran with 3/12 and Adil Rashid with 2/22 was the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Ben Stokes led the charge with his maiden T20I fifty as he remained 52* with 5 fours and 1 six to his name.

Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with 2/23, while the game-changing moment came when Shaheen Afridi walked off the field with an injury to his knee after bowling one ball of the 16th over and Stokes hit Iftikhar Ahmed for a six and a four to open the floodgates.

Buttler contributed 26, while Harry Brook (20) and Moeen Ali (19) also helped keep the Pakistani bowlers at bay as England won the final by 5 wickets.

Sam Curran was given the Player of the Final award for his 3/12 in 4 overs and Player of the Tournament as well for his 13 wickets.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for the England team and lauded them on Twitter.
