South Africa were eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2022.
The Super 12 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 had a dramatic start with the two-time champions West Indies getting knocked out in the qualifying rounds.
Despite this, there were still a few more surprises to come, including Zimbabwe defeating Pakistan, Ireland beating England, and most recently, the Netherlands upsetting South Africa on Sunday (November 06).
With this loss, South Africa, who was viewed by many as one of the favorites to win the World Cup, has been eliminated from the tournament.
However, the Proteas’ loss is Team India’s gain as they progressed to the semi-finals irrespective of the result of their match against Zimbabwe on Sunday.
After the match, India legend Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to share a funny tweet while reacting to the game.
He posted: "Went for breakfast with a friend. Told him we'll go Dutch. He almost choked at the proposition!"
Here’s what he tweeted:
After being asked to bat first, the Netherlands scored a modest 158/4 in 20 overs. Coilin Ackermann shined with the bat, smashing 41 off just 26 balls.
Given their batting prowess, one would have imagined that the Proteas would have little trouble chasing down the target. However, they could only score 145/8 as the Dutch team outclassed Temba Bavuma's team by 13 runs.
The Dutch deserve praise for their efforts, as they were quite magnificent with both bat and ball. The plans and the ground dimension were utilized impeccably by the Men in Orange which led them to register a famous win at the Adelaide Oval.
