Babar has been dismissed in single digits in every game in the T20 World Cup 2022 so far.
Pakistan has had an erratic campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. After being defeated by India, they suffered a shocking defeat to Zimbabwe before thrashing the Netherlands and South Africa.
Although the bowlers have been in terrific form in the showpiece event, the form or lack thereof of the skipper Babar Azam has been a concern for the Men in Green.
Azam in the tournament has aggregated 14 runs in 4 games at a dismal 3.50 apiece. In what will be a must-win game against Bangladesh on Sunday (November 06), Pakistan will need the skipper to return to his destructive best.
Amidst all the criticism Babar has been on from fans, former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has come out in support of the star batter. Akram acknowledged that even the greatest of players go through a slump in their career while referring to Kohli’s dip.
“This happens. This happened to one of the greatest of all times Virat Kohli, almost for a year. He was out of touch, out of nick. A lot of people criticized him back in India.” said Akram while speaking to A Sports.
“Babar Azam is a class player, we all know. He got out while trying to play a shot against South Africa. But you need one good innings, you need a 20-22-run innings in T20. He couldn’t middle the ball, maybe he was trying too hard. Because his game is not slogging. His game is to play cricketing shots,” he added.

The legendary pacer added that the 28-year-old will feel pressure to deliver by himself.
“He probably has put pressure on himself due to his high standards where he has scored freely in all three formats. As a sportsman, you do compete with yourself. But he’ll be fine,” he concluded.
After South Africa’s shocking defeat to the Dutch, the Men in Green will qualify for the semifinals if they beat Bangladesh on Sunday.
