India failed majorly in their trial by fire against South Africa pacers in their T20 World Cup 2022 match at Perth on October 30, with only Suryakumar Yadav coming out unscathed.

Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. India made one change with Akshar Patel making way for Deepak Hooda and South Africa left out Tabraiz Shamsi for pacer Lungi Ngidi.

Ngidi proved to be a huge game-changer as he picked 4/29 including big wickets of Rohit Sharma (15), KL Rahul (9), and Virat Kohli (12) at the top. He then came back in the second spell to get rid of Hardik Pandya for 2 runs.

Meanwhile, Wayne Parnell wrapped up the tail nicely with 3/15.

But it was Suryakumar Yadav who played with amazing courage and ability to score 68 off 39 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes to his name as India made 133/9 in 20 overs. He was at peace with the bounce and pace of the Perth pitch and scored off both pace and spin.

He was lauded unanimously by the cricket fraternity on Twitter thanks to his amazing knock which helped India put up a decent total on the board.
