Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar stated that Pakistan doesn't have a very settled middle-order and that is really a cause of concern for the Men in Green after they suffered two consecutive defeats in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against India and Zimbabwe in Australia.

He further suggested that Pakistan has a player like Hardik Pandya in the team while claiming the Men in Green should have included Mohammad Wasim Jr. in their playing XI against Team India like they did against Zimbabwe. He wasn’t also impressed with Pakistan’s team selection so far in the tournament as well.

Speaking on Sports Tak, Sunil Gavaskar said: “They don't have a very settled middle order. In the T20I matches they played before, Fakhar Zaman played at No 3 or 4. Now he is just part of the squad, but not in the XI. Shan Masood is scoring runs, but....”

The former Indian skipper continued, “I feel their selection hasn't been good. For Australia's conditions, if they had a bowler who could seam up, like Mohammad Wasim Jr. did against Zimbabwe. And he also played a couple of good shots as well. He has that talent.”

Gavaskar signed off by saying, “Unke paas toh Hardik Pandya jaisa player hai (They have a player of Hardik Pandya's calibre), he (Mohammad Wasim Jr.) is still new but I'm just giving the idea that he can play those lofty shots and can give you a couple of overs as well. And they did not play him against India. They played two spinners. You need a player who can give you 3-4 overs and can score 30 runs at No. 7 or No. 8 position in the last few overs.”
