Shadab Khan had taken three wickets and made 17 runs.
Zimbabwe somehow managed to post 130/8 on the board on a spicy and bouncy Perth pitch on which Mohammad Wasim Jr picked 4/24 and Shadab Khan took 3 wickets as well. In reply, Shan Masood with 44 and Mohammad Nawaz with 22 were the only notable scorers for Pakistan as they fell one run short despite needing 3 runs in the last 3 balls.
Shadab Khan also contributed with the bat, scoring 17 runs in 14 balls with one six, but his dismissal proved to be a turning point for the Pakistan team, as he and Masood had put on 52 runs for the 4th wicket after losing early wickets.
Hence, after Pakistan lost the match, Shadab Khan couldn’t control his emotions and broke down in tears and went down to his knees near the pavilion.
In a video going viral on social media, he can be seen crying with a Pakistan team official consoling him and later escorting him inside the pavilion.
With this loss, Pakistan’s chances of making it into the semi-finals have become scarce. They now need to win all three of their remaining games, one of which will be against South Africa. And then Babar and co will have to hope India defeats South Africa as well in their upcoming game on Sunday.
