Virat Kohli seems to be in complete control of his game ahead of India’s T20 World Cup 2022 opener against arch-rivals Pakistan at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday (October 23).

The same was evident in a couple of videos posted on Twitter. In the clips, the veteran batter can be seen honing his batting skills in the nets on the eve of the big game at MCG.

Kohli middled the ball brilliantly and played a number of strokes during the practice session, including a reverse sweep against wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

As usual, fans gathered in numbers to watch Virat and other Indian players’ training sessions. After witnessing Kohli’s strokeplay, a Pakistani fan expressed his concerns as he said: “Ye Kohli mujhe lagta hai kuch karega. Ye Humse nahi out hota (I feel, Kohli will do something big [against Pakistan]. He’s not going to get dismissed by us).”

Here’s the video:

Before the Asia Cup 2022, questions were raised over Virat Kohli’s place in the Indian T20I team as he was enduring an extended lean patch. However, the former skipper silenced his critics by finishing the six-team competition as the second highest run-getter with 276 runs to his name from five innings.

During the tournament, Kohli also ended his much-talked-about century drought as he slammed 122* off 61 balls in India’s last Super-4 clash against Afghanistan.

After regaining his form in the Asia Cup, Virat continued his brilliance in the home T20I series against Australia. He slammed 63 off 48 balls in the third and final T20I, helping India clinch the series 2-1.

No wonder, Kohli is now expected to do well in India’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign.
