MS Dhoni was Team India mentor in the last year's T20 World Cup 2021.
MS Dhoni has returned to the headlines, as the legendary captain has yet again left fans in splits with his hilarious and straightforward response regarding the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Notably, Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, remains the only Indian captain to have won the T20 World Cup back in 2007, and the former Indian wicketkeeper-batter even captained the Men in Blue in the first six editions of the tournament in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016.
The former Indian skipper was also Team India's mentor in the T20 World Cup 2021, where the team failed to reach the semifinals in the UAE. Well now, the Indian cricket team is gearing up to take on Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2022 opener on Sunday (October 23) at the MCG.
As the India vs Pakistan match is just one day away, and at an event where Dhoni was asked to comment on the T20 World Cup 2022, one of the most successful captains in the world, left one and all in splits with his quirky response. He was repeatedly asked to comment on the event, but he denied saying anything.
In a short viral video, Dhoni can be seen interacting with fans on stage, where the moderator asked the legendary cricketer: "So close to the World Cup, if I don't ask you a World Cup question, they are going to lynch me."
Responding to which he himself laughed and left everyone in laughter with his cheeky response, as he said: "I'm not playing in the World Cup... The team has already left. "
