Netherlands became the second team after Sri Lanka from Group A to qualify for Super 12.
The Super 12 qualification of the Dutch side was confirmed after UAE defeated Namibia in the last qualifying round match in Group A on Thursday (October 20).
Opting to bat first, UAE posted 148/3 on the board with key contributions from Muhammad Waseem (50 off 41) and skipper Chundangapoyil Rizwan (43* off 29 balls).
Defending the total, UAE restricted Namibia to 141/8 despite David Wiese’s half-century (55 off 36 balls).
Muhammad Waseem was tasked to defend 14 runs in the final over and he conceded only six runs and took the prized scalp of Wiese to ensure UAE’s victory.
As soon as the match got over, raw emotions and crazy celebrations were seen in the Netherlands camp as players were seen dancing and shouting in joy.
The Dutch cricketers were following this game closely as Namibia’s loss would have ensured a Super 12 berth for them.

Netherlands started their campaign with a three-wicket victory over UAE and followed it with a five-wicket win against Namibia. They lost to Sri Lanka by 16 runs in the last qualifying round match and finished second on the points table.
As a result, Netherlands have now joined India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh in Group 2 of the Super 12 phase.
