Legendary Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis was not happy with the handling of India’s pace sensation Umran Malik. The former Pakistan head coach believes that Malik should have been given more chances with Team India instead of dropping him and sending him back to domestic cricket.

Notably, the speedster made headlines for his raw pace and ability to take wickets in the IPL 2022 and subsequently earned a maiden call-up to the Indian side, but after failing to impress in three T20Is, the Jammu and Kashmir star was shown the doors. He is now sharpening his skills in domestic cricket.

Well, Younis feels Umran should have stayed with the Indian team but was happy with the fact that Pakistan would not need to face the fearsome pacer in the upcoming Super 12 match against India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on October 23 at the MCG.

Waqar Younis said during his interaction with A Sports: “Yeh develop, develop ke chakkar main na bowlers kharab ho jatein hai, remember that. If you pick even the great bowlers, very early they are thrown in the deep end and they learn to swim quickly. I'm happy he's not there because Pakistan ka match aane wala hai. He's a real talent.”

He added, “We spoke about this in Asia Cup as well because udhr Star ke bande team bana rahein the and woh kisiki team main nehi tha. I was really surprised kyunki yeh uss tarah se nehi sochte jis tarah se humlog sochte hai. Humlog hai ki pace hain toh theek ho jayega. And eventually aapnke dekha tha ki jo baache aaye the jo Misbah aur mere time main aaye the they are now the backbone of the bowling.”
