In reply, Mohammad Shami picked 3/4 in the last over, while Finch top-scored for Australia with 76 runs. Glenn Maxwell with 23 and Mitchell Marsh with 35 were the other major run-getters for the Kangaroos.
In the last over bowled by Mohammad Shami, Australia needed 11 runs to win, and Pat Cummins took 4 runs off the first two balls, but after that, the last four balls produced four wickets.
It started with Cummins being caught amazingly by Virat Kohli who took a one-handed blinder at long on the boundary. On the next ball, Ashton Agar was run out, trying to sneak a bye and it was followed by Mohammad Shami bowling two pinpoint yorkers.
First Shami got rid of Josh Inglis as the yorker swung in and beat Inglis’ attempt to flick it to the leg side. And on the last ball of the match, Shami’s yorker hit the off-stump of Kane Richardson, who tried to hoick him over the mid-off region.
