Former Pakistan captain and veteran batter Shoaib Malik has finally broken his silence on not being picked in the national squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia.

Stressing he has no complaints after being ignored for the T20 World Cup 2022, Malik said that his job is to perform whenever he gets the opportunity and selection is totally in the hands of the selectors, team management, and PCB, so he doesn’t think much about it.

Notably, 40-year-old Malik was last seen in action for Pakistan on the Bangladesh tour in November 2021.

However, he performed brilliantly in domestic cricket, amassing 401 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 137.32, with three fifty-plus scores in the PSL 2022 and then 204 runs in the 2022 National T20 Cup.

Shoaib Malik said on Samaa TV: “My job is to play cricket whenever I get the opportunity. It’s team management’s call to pick me up or not. Whenever I get a chance, I will try to make the best out of it. Mujhe kisise koi problem nehi hain. Main kisike koi against nehi hu kyunki positive rehna has been a major reason behind the success of my career.”

The former skipper further revealed that when he was in constant touch with Babar Azam, he never pressured or tried to convince the Pakistan skipper of his selection.

Malik signed off by saying, “We have been in touch consistently. Yes, earlier we used to talk more, but now he is a skipper and one should give him that space. Main khud iss cheez se guzra hu. Isiliye maine aajtak koi pressure nehi dala na kabhi dalunga na kabhi convince karne ki koshish karunga.”
