A day after completing the home T20I series against South Africa, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian squad departed for Australia for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

The showpiece tournament will get underway on October 16 with the qualifying round matches, while the Men in Blue will open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at MCG on October 23.

As Team India landed in Perth to start their preparations for the marquee event, the players had to put their warmers on and they also tried cuppa to combat the cold.

“Bahot jyaada kadake ki thand hai, aapko kya btaye….chai peene ki bahot jaroorat hai, (It’s too cold here….a cup of tea is much needed),” Yuzvendra Chahal said in a recent BCCI video.

The evening breeze prompted Yuzvendra Chahal to sport his India jacket as he interacted with Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Hooda and Harshal Patel.

“Dheere dheere acclimatize karenge (We’ll acclimatize to the weather gradually),” said Harshal while holding a cup of tea.

Notably, the BCCI has arranged a couple of warm-up matches for the Indian team against a Western Australian XI on October 10 and 13. Subsequently, Rohit and his men will travel to Brisbane, where they will play their official World Cup warm-up matches against Australia and New Zealand on October 17 and October 19, respectively.
