The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 to be played in Australia from October 16 onwards.

Shakib Al Hasan has been named the captain of the side, which also features the likes of Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Yasir Ali, and Nurul Hasan as the batters. As far as the fast bowlers are concerned Mustafizur Rahman will lead the way with Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Ebadot Hossain for company.

The spin department will see Shakib leading the way with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mosaddek Hossain, and Nasum Ahmed. Litton Das and Nurul Hasan have been picked as the wicketkeepers.

The big news from the Bangladesh squad was that there was no place for former captain Mahmudullah in even the standby players list. He made 52 runs at a 106.12 strike rate in the Asia Cup, having made just 99 runs in six T20s earlier this year. He has looked like a shadow of the player he once was between 2016 to 2018.

Mohammad Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan, and Soumya Sarkar have been named as the reserve players.

Bangladesh has been placed in Group 2 along with India, Pakistan, South Africa, and two qualifiers from the first round. The Tigers will take the field in their first match on October 24 while their other matches are on October 27, 30, and on November 2 and 6.
