The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Team India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 which will be played in Australia from October 16 onwards. The Aaron Finch-led side is also the defending champion.

India had a torrid tournament in 2021 which was played in UAE as they crashed out in the league stage itself after losing to Pakistan in their first loss in World Cups to the Men in Green and then to New Zealand.

However, much has changed since then as Rohit Sharma took over from Virat Kohli as captain and Rahul Dravid became the new head coach and India has been amazing in T20Is since then with them not losing a single T20I series under Rohit’s captaincy.

But their recent outing in the Asia Cup 2022 was below par as they failed to make it into the finals, on the other hand, experimenting with different combinations and it seems the BCCI selection panel and the team management have finalized the 15-member India squad for the T20 World Cup 2022.

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli have been chosen as the top three of the Indian squad. All three had a decent outing in the Asia Cup 2022. Deepak Hooda has been chosen as the backup floating option while his off-spin may also come in handy.

The middle order of the India squad has the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, and Dinesh Karthik as the finisher. Akshar Patel has also been included as the spin all-rounder taking the place that would’ve been of now injured Ravindra Jadeja.

The spin department of the Indian squad features Yuzvendra Chahal, and R Ashwin as well.

The pace department sees the return of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who join Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to complete a formidable fast bowling contingent.

As for the standby players, the BCCI chose Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, and in a surprise pick, Mohammad Shami.

Here is the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022:

Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, R Pant (WK), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Akshar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, B Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh
