T20 World Cup 2021: Australian cricket fraternity rejoices as Australia clinch their maiden T20 World Cup title

Australia defeated New Zealand in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 final.

Australia on Sunday (November 14) created history as they clinched their maiden T20 World Cup title by defeating New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

In the summit clash, New Zealand posted 172/4 on the board after being invited to bat first. Skipper Kane Williamson was the top scorer with 48-ball 85 (10 fours and 3 sixes).

Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for Australia, taking three wickets by conceding only 16 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Australia rode on Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten 77 off 50 balls and David Warner’s 38-ball 53 to overhaul the target with eight wickets in hand and seven balls to spare.

For his stellar knock, Marsh won the Player-of-the-Match award in the final while Warner was adjudged the Player-of-the-Tournament.

Australian cricket fraternity was on could nine as Aaron Finch and company won the first-ever T20 World Cup trophy for the country.
