Jason Roy was retired hurt after the injury and he was taken off by Tom Curran.
England opener Jason Roy suffered a calf muscle injury during their Super 12 match against South Africa on Saturday (November 6) in the T20 World Cup 2021. Roy was taken off the field on a score of 20 off 15 deliveries after retiring hurt.
The incident happened off the first ball of the fifth over when Jos Buttler called for a single. Roy took off from the non-striker’s end and picked up the injury midway. He started limping and completed the run in pain on one foot after which he dropped to the ground.

Roy broke down into tears after getting attended by the physio, and Moeen Ali came in to bat replacing him. His participation further in the tournament is still in doubt.
At the post-match press conference, England skipper Eoin Morgan was questioned about Roy’s injury. “It’s his calf. It obviously didn’t look great. And we will wait until tomorrow to see what his movement is like. Probably send him for a scan and then go from there. Apart from that, can’t tell you much,” he said.
England lost the match against South Africa by 10 runs but being the table toppers, Morgan and co have secured a spot in the semi-finals.
