India recorded a massive win against Scotland by 8 wickets with 13.3 overs to spare on Friday (November 5) in what was a must-win game for one of the pre-tournament favourites.

Indian captain Virat Kohli, who turned 33 today, finally won his first toss of the tournament as he opted to bowl first on a ground that has suited chasing teams.

The bowlers stood up for the Indian team as they skittled out Scotland for just 85 in the 18th over. Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets with R Ashwin also getting one.

India needed to chase the target in 7.1 overs to push their net run-rate above Afghanistan and New Zealand, and they ended up achieving the target in just 6.3 overs with KL Rahul smashing 50 off 19 balls and Rohit Sharma scoring 30 off 16 balls.

India now await the outcome of Afghanistan-New Zealand clash on Sunday to know whether they will have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. If Afghanistan wins the game, India will remain in contention when they take on Namibia. If New Zealand wins, they will qualify knocking out both Afghanistan and India.

After a 8-wicket thrashing, the Scotland team visited the Team India dressing room to have a chat with the players who were visibly delighted to welcome them and share their experiences.

Cricket Scotland shared the pictures on Twitter, and also cheekily asked if Virat & co. would pay a visit to the country next April for a game on a greenish pitch.

Scotland have lost all four games so far in the Super 12s, but they were impressive in the Qualifier round winning all three games to qualify for the Group 2 in the Super 12 round.
