Cummins said Australia is excited for the big game against England.
Australia’s star speedster and vice-captain Pat Cummins said that having three all-rounders in Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh in the playing XI is a huge relief to the main bowlers and an advantage in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
Cummins has further insisted that Australia will continue playing four specialist pacers in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021, as the Australian all-rounders Maxwell, Stoinis, and Marsh are more than capable of playing the fifth bowler's role for the side in the ongoing global tournament.
Ahead of Australia’s mouth-watering clash with Ashes rivals England in T20 World Cup 2021 on Saturday, October 30, in Dubai, Cummins denied going back to their five-bowler theory when he was asked if Australia were tempted to revert to their five-bowler strategy.
Cummins stated, “I think the flexibility that structure gives us is just huge. Maxi bowling one in the first six (overs) means Starcy can have an extra over through the middle. We saw he took a couple of wickets in the middle overs, that's because we were able to have someone like Maxi ball early.”
The pacer continued, “Stoinis still hasn't bowled a lot but we know how much of an impact he can be with the ball, let alone have the option to now have that extra batter. I think we're really well suited. We are covering a lot of areas with that fifth bowler. We've got Maxwell, Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh, all who can contribute those four overs.”
Meanwhile, both England and Australia have won their first two Super 12s matches so far in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021, and Cummins said Australia is looking forward to Saturday’s match, saying it is a very crucial game in the context of making the semi-finals of the tournament.
He signed off by saying, “I think the style of play is quite similar. We like to take the game on. They've been probably just about the form team in the last few years in white-ball cricket. A huge game. We know these guys really well. We know it's such a big game in the context of making the semi-finals, and yeah, always enjoy coming up against England.”
