Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah expressed huge disappointment after his team’s crushing 8-wicket loss to England on Wednesday (October 27) in Abu Dhabi, as the Tigers suffered their second consecutive defeat in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
Mahmudullah stressed that Bangladesh needs to reassess a few things after his batters failed to put up a fight against England’s strong bowling attack on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
Bangladesh's batters miserably failed against England, as Mushfiqur Rahim (29) was the only batter who could cross the 20-run mark to help the Tigers post a paltry 124/9, with Tymal Mills (3/27), Liam Livingstone (2/15), and Moeen Ali (2/18) stunned the other batters in the contest.
Chasing the paltry 125, Jason Roy’s quickfire fifty (61 off 38) powered England to an emphatic 8-wicket win over Bangladesh inside 14 overs in the Super 12 clash of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in Abu Dhabi.
Mahmudullah said at the post-match presentation: “We were very disappointed with the way we batted. We have more skillful hitters than power-hitters. I think we need to reassess a few things in batting.”
He also pointed out that if Bangladesh gets a good start, then the team can capitalize on it. The skipper signed off by saying, “We didn't start well and we didn't get any partnerships. If we get a good start, we can capitalize. It gets difficult on a wicket like this if we don't get a good start”.
Noteworthy, Bangladesh hasn’t yet won a game in the Super 12 round of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 and will next face the defending champions West Indies on Friday, October 29.
