England continued their dominance in the ongoing T20 World Cup as they thrashed Bangladesh by eight wickets in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (October 27).

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a below-par 134/8 in their allotted 20 overs. It was a listless performance with the bat as no one managed to touch the 30-run mark. Mushfiqur Rahim was the top scorer with 30-ball 29.

While Moeen Ali (2-18) and Liam Livingstone (2-15) troubled Bangladesh’s top and middle order respectively, Tymal Mills (3-27) ran through the lower order. All-rounder Chris Woakes also returned with impressive figures of 1 for 12 in his four overs.

In reply, England lost Jos Buttler for 18 but the duo of Jason Roy and Dawid Malan added 73 runs for the second wicket to put their team on the brink of victory.

After Roy got out in the 13th over for 38-ball 61, Jonny Bairstow (8*) arrived in the middle to partner Malan (28* off 25 balls) and the pair completed the formalities of taking England over the line with 35 balls to spare.

Cricket fraternity took on Twitter lauded Eoin Morgan and company for their second consecutive victory in the T20 World Cup 2021.
