Sehwag slammed the hypocrisy of banning crackers on Diwali but allowing them on other occasions.
Pakistan registered their maiden win over India in a World Cup match for the first time in 29 years, breaking a streak that stood 12-0 before this encounter. Batting first after losing the toss, Virat Kohli and co. managed 151/7 with the skipper top-scoring with 57 and Rishabh Pant making 39. Shaheen Afridi picked 3 wickets including that of Rohit Sharma for a golden duck and KL Rahul for a single-digit score in the first 3 overs.
Meanwhile, Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan slammed unbeaten half-centuries as they reached the target without losing a wicket and 13 balls in hand. This was Pakistan’s first-ever win in T20Is by 10 wickets, and India’s first-ever loss by that margin in the format.
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter to slam people who decided to burst firecrackers to celebrate the win of archrivals Pakistan and said that those cannot be Indian people.
“Those bursting crackers on Pak winning can’t be Indian! We stand by our boys! #Shameful,” Gambhir tweeted.
On the other hand, Virender Sehwag brought to note that firecrackers are banned during Diwali but were burst without any restrictions when India lost to Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2021. He said that if firecrackers can be used to celebrate the victory of Pakistan over India, then why are they banned from Diwali.
“Firecrackers are banned during Diwali but yesterday in parts of India there were firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan ‘s victory. Achha they must have been celebrating victory of cricket. Toh , what’s the harm in fireworks on Diwali. Hypocrisy kyun ,Saara gyaan tab hi yaad aata hai,” Sehwag said.
India will next face New Zealand on October 31st which will also be played in Dubai.
