Sri Lanka and Bangladesh clash in Group 1 match of Super 12s stage in Sharjah.
The two teams are pretty much the same in firepower with Sri Lanka banking on their fast bowlers to do the deed, while Bangladesh going with their spinners who have given them the upper hand in battles in foregone matches.
Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Mohammad Naim added 40 runs inside the first 6 overs with Das making 16 runs. His innings came to an end on the 5th ball of the sixth over, when Liton backed towards the leg side to try and hit the ball over mid-off, where Dasun Shanaka took an easy catch.
However, Kumara while celebrating his scalps faced off against Liton Das as the batter was walking back to the pavilion and as things got heated, Mohammad Naim came to separate the two and kind of shoved Kumara, as Sri Lankan players came to their player’s aid.
This led to the two on-field umpires coming to calm things down and sent the batter to the dugout and bowler back celebrating the wicket.
The things were already heated before this incident as on the final ball of 4th over, Kumara had thrown a ball straight towards Mohammad Naim, who had hit it straight back to him. Naim ducked to avoid getting hit, while Kumara glared at him.
It seemed that all aggression boiled to this incident when all the three parties engaged with one another in a heated way.
