Jofra Archer is confident of England's great campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021.
England speedster Jofra Archer on Thursday (October 14) said the England team has enough strength in depth to “scare” the opposition teams in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and Oman.
The two match-winning stars, Archer and Ben Stokes, will be the major absentees from England’s campaign in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, to be played from October 17 to November 14, but the pacer has insisted that his team has got a strong squad to challenge the opposition teams.
Archer ruled himself out of the global event after a recurrence of a stress fracture in his right elbow, while Stokes extended his break from cricket to focus on his mental health.
Later, Liam Livingstone and Tymal Mills were named as Archer and Stokes' replacements in the England squad for the T20 World Cup, which begins on October 17 in Dubai.
Well, Jofra hopes their opponents will be scared and lose sleep over facing the Eoin Morgan-led side in the multi-nation tournament as they are aiming to win their second T20 World Cup title this year.
Archer wrote in his column for Daily Mail: “Let's face it, we have been successful for so long, top of the world rankings as a result, and have players that can dominate on any stage. Yes, I and Ben Stokes are unavailable, but I'm not worried about that in terms of the way the team will perform.”
He concluded, “I know there is enough strength in depth to cover our absence. I hope opposition teams are scared when they come up against us over these next few weeks. I hope people are losing sleep at night, thinking, 'jeez, we have got a tough game tomorrow.”
Noteworthy, England will take on the defending champions West Indies in their opening match in the T20 World Cup 2021 on October 23 in Dubai.
