England pacer Chris Jordan said his team has become stronger and better after their heartbreaking defeat in the final of the 2016 T20 World Cup against the West Indies and is confident that they will have a great campaign in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.

England had almost won the T20 World Cup in Kolkata five years ago when Jordan's eight-run penultimate over left the West Indies requiring 19 from the last 6 balls, but Carlos Brathwaite hit Ben Stokes for 4 successive sixes and took the Caribbean side to victory at Eden Gardens.

Jordan said of the 2016 T20 World Cup final: “I'll never take myself to that place again. I definitely won't be thinking that way after bowling the 19th over until it's fully, fully over. We tend to laugh about it now, but we definitely came out stronger for it as a unit.”

The 33-year-old seamer added, “I wouldn't say it haunted us too much. Someone has to come up victorious and for something like that to be done in the last over, you can't write that.”

He further mentioned that England has improved a lot over the years and makes clearer decisions in crunch moments, which helped them to win the 2019 World Cup at home.

The pacer added, “The team was on autopilot. In any situation, you saw the game slow down a little bit and everyone came up with an informed and correct decision.”

On the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, Jordan said: “For this team, having been together for so long, the chemistry is there, the talent is there. All the ingredients are there for us to make a decent run in this campaign, but we have to take it one game at a time and build through the tournament.”

He signed off by saying, “The squad is very, very strong and I am pretty optimistic. The focus is really, really clear and we have been playing together for quite some time so we know each other's games pretty well and have played quite a few high-pressure games in front of big crowds.”

England Squad:
