Australia will begin their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign against South Africa on 23 October.
Australia’s swashbuckling opening batter David Warner, on the other hand, is confident going into the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE and Oman as the southpaw believes they have one of the strongest teams on paper.
“Playing at any World Cup is inspiring. You look at the great names that have come before you and the trophies they have lifted. It's a great spectacle to be a part of. I remember when we won the World Cup in 2015, it was an absolutely amazing feeling. This one (T20 World Cup) has eluded us for a while now," Australia’s David Warner told SportsToday.
"Our team, on paper, is definitely the strongest we have put out by far. Great experience, a lot of T20 matches under everyone's belt, we have the skill. It's about going out there and executing it,” he added.
IPL 2021: David Warner says SRH management didn’t give any reason for dropping him as captain
The 34-year-old David Warner then had his say on the teams that will be quite challenging to play against in the tournament citing IPL 2021 being played at the same venues where the ICC mega event will be played in UAE.
“A lot of teams are going to be a challenge. Pakistan, West Indies with their firepower, England are a very good all-round team, World Cup winners. India, if you look at the IPL, could probably fill three teams,” the left-hand batter said.
Australia will be beginning their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign against South Africa on 23 October (Saturday) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Warner had his say on Australia’s chances in the upcoming showpiece event.
“It is something that has eluded us or a while now. I can't wait to just get back with the boys, it has been a while since we wore the Australian colors. We had those series against Bangladesh and West Indies through which myself and a couple of other players were always going to rest,” the Aussie cricketer said.
“We had the World Cup and Ashes moving forward, so it was a big-time for us to freshen up. I can't wait for the World Cup. We know how the surfaces are going to play and how extremely hot it is outside,” he signed off.
