Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal came up with a cryptic tweet using emojis a day after he was left out of India's squad for the T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman. The selectors named a 15-member squad which included five spinners and three travelling reserves but Chahal didn't find a spot in either.

Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Akshar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy and Ravichandran Ashwin were preferred by the selection committee, with off-spinner Ashwin getting a recall in the white-ball setup after four years. Chahal had recently toured Sri Lanka along with his spin partner Kuldeep Yadav, but both the wrist spinners were not picked in the squad for the ICC event.

Chahal used few emojis in his cryptic tweet on Thursday (September 9) after joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp in Dubai for Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), perhaps suggesting that the "sun will rise again" as Rohit Sharma had famously said when he was ignored from the Indian Test squad in 2018.

Chief selector Chetan Sharma explained the rationale behind inexperienced Rahul Chahar's inclusion over the experienced Chahal, as he said, "You want a spinner who can deliver with more speed. Recently we have seen Rahul Chahar bowling with speed. The selectors' view was we need a spinner who can find the grip off the surface on the wickets and deliver with slightly more speed. While we had a lot of discussion on Chahal, we eventually went with Rahul Chahar."
