The T20 World Cup will take place in the UAE and Oman between October 17-November 14.
With the T20 World Cup 2021 just around the corner, all the fans and experts are keeping themselves busy by picking the XI, India should go in with in the showpiece event. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra is one of them as he picked his first-choice bowlers for the ICC tournament.
The former opening batsman picked the trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Deepak Chahar as India’s first-choice seamers for the T20 World Cup.
“You need at least one fast bowler because you have already picked three fast bowlers or if you pick two fast bowlers, you might not look at an additional spinner. We have already kept three spinners – Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal,” Chopra said in the video on his YouTube channel.
“Mohammad Shami front-runner, he might not be there in Sri Lanka but is still a front-runner. Natarajan is injured and not there in Sri Lanka but is still one of the front-runners,” he added.
The cricketer-turned-commentator then suggested that selectors might choose Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur as backup seam-bowling options for the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman.
“Saini and Shardul Thakur. Thakur is in England while Saini is in Sri Lanka. You might want to look at one out of these four fast bowlers. I don’t think of anybody else at this point in time. I don’t think you will be able to look at anyone else, that you will get a name suddenly, like Harshal Patel, out of the box,” the 43-year-old signed off.
Along with the second-leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL 14), BCCI also shifted the T20 World Cup from India to UAE considering the uncertain nature of COVID-19 condition in the country.
