West Indies dominated its way through against debutant Thailand to clinch a seven-wicket victory at Perth in Group B of the Women's T20 World Cup this Saturday (February 22).
Thailand women found life extremely difficult facing up against a more experienced side.
The team batted first and managed to reach as far as only 78/9 in its full quota of 20 overs; wicketkeeper batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai top-scored with a painstakingly slow 33 but the rest of the batting struggled badly as the likes of Nattaya Boochatham (2) and Nattakan Chantam (9) failed to leave a mark.

For West Indies, skipper Stafanie Taylor (3/13) bagged three wickets in her fruitful spell and Chinelle Henry (1/14), Shamilia Connell (1/13), Afy Fletcher (1/11), Anisa Mohammed (1/15) and Hayley Matthews (1/12) contributed a breakthrough each.
In the run-chase, Thailand women had their moments, inflicting two run-outs of Lee-Ann Kirby (3), Deandra Dottin (2) and Soraya Lateh (1/21) dismissing Hayley Matthews (16), but eventually veteran Taylor (26*) and Shemaine Campbelle (25*) quite comfortably took their team over the line.
