Raina last played for India in a T20 series against England in 2018.
It’s been a really long time since fans saw Suresh Raina batting in the Indian jersey. But with T20 World Cup just around the corner, the southpaw hopes to make it to the Indian team flying to Australia.
While talking to The Times of India in an interview, Raina made it clear that he is determined to do well in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) and make his way back into the Indian T20I setup.
Suresh Raina says MS Dhoni can still be an asset for Indian team
“I have always enjoyed my cricket, irrespective of where I play. I have not set any targets right now. If I am able to do well in the IPL, I will be able to understand how I am shaping up. I have played enough to know what the situation demands,” he said.
The 33-year-old then talked about having 2-3 years of cricket in him and how he enjoys the shortest format of the game.
“So my T20 World Cup hopes to depend on my performance in the IPL. If I can make my knee strong and have a good IPL, then I know that I have another 2-3 years of cricket left in me. There are two back-to-back T20 World Cups. I have done well in T20 cricket,” he added.
The left-hander who has over 5300 runs in 193 IPL matches at an average of 33.34 and a superb strike rate of 137.11 last played for India in a T20 series against England in 2018.
