Oman on Wednesday (October 30) defeated Hong Kong in the all to play for qualifier 4 of the global qualifier in UAE and booked the final ticket towards the next year's ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
The Asian emerging nation joined PNG, Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia, Scotland to clinch the last six places available at the pinnacle event down under.
On the day, batting first, Oman somehow managed to scrap its way through to a total of 134/7 with opener Jatinder Singh playing a defiant knock of 67* off 50 balls while the rest struggled to get going.
In the second innings, however, left-arm seamer Bilal Khan (4/23) enabled his team's comeback with a bang as Hong Kong collapsed to 18/5 and never recovered; finishing short by 12 runs at the end of 20 overs.
It was another great moment to rejoice for Oman this year; the country gained ODI status for the very first time in April after clinching one of the four available slots through to the new ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
