The Irishmen topped the Group B points table after Jersey defeated Oman.
Ireland on Sunday (October 27) qualified for the next year's ICC T20 World Cup in Australia by the virtue of topping Group B of the ongoing global qualifier thanks to Jersey that stopped Oman from doing so with a 14-run victory in Abu Dhabi.
Ireland won four of its six games in the group phase and now awaits a semi-final opponent in the tournament, much like Group A toppers Papua New Guinea.
Oman and third placed UAE also won as many games but were pipped by the Irishmen on net run-rate.
To further emphasize how tough it was in Group B, Hong Kong, Canada and Jersey all won three and lost three of their six games each but Hong Kong scrapped its way through to the play-offs on better net run-rate at the fourth position.
Canada and Jersey were eliminated, and so was Nigeria with six consecutive defeats.
In Group A, Netherlands finished at the second position after failing to chase down its target against fourth-placed Scotland on Sunday inside 12.3 overs in Dubai. Or else, the Dutch would've succeeded PNG to the top spot. Namibia got the third position in the table.
Kenya at fifth, followed by Singapore and Bermuda, were eliminated.
In the play-offs, UAE faces Netherlands and Namibia takes on Oman in the second and third place crossovers on Tuesday (October 29) in Dubai with the winners not only joining PNG and Ireland to contest the semis but also qualifying to the preliminary round of the World Cup down under.
The losers of the two crossovers will face Scotland and Hong Kong respectively with the final two seedings to Australia on the line.
Six teams will join Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in respective groups to claim the two slots each available through to the Super 12.
The T20 World Cup begins on October 18 and runs until November 15 2020.
