India will face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
Rattled by their previous defeats in Ahmedabad, the Indian team and BCCI have made a superstitious off-field decision ahead of the title clash.
The Narendra Modi Stadium has not been a happy hunting venue for India in recent times. The Men in Blue have lost only two matches in their last four ICC events, and both of them interestingly came in Ahmedabad.
According to a PTI report, the BCCI has changed the team's hotel in Ahmedabad, hoping the move will bring them good luck for the final. During team's previous couple of stays in the earlier hotel, they lost the 2023 ODI World Cup final to Australia and the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash against South Africa.
"In Ahmedabad, the BCCI has changed India's team hotel ahead of the final. While no one will come on record but it is only fair to mention that during team's previous couple of stays in the earlier hotel in Ahmedabad, they lost two big matches (2023 ODI WC final and this year's Super 8s against SA)," the report stated.
The BCCI and the Indian team management want to leave no stone unturned to defend their T20 World Cup title at home.
Before their semifinal match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the reigning champions delayed their practice session for a peculiar reason.
As per reports, Suryakumar Yadav and his men were supposed to practice between 6-9 PM at the Wankhede Stadium. However, the Lunar Eclipse starting from 3:20 PM and lasting until 6:47 PM forced them to change plans.
In India, a lunar eclipse—known as Chandra Grahan—is traditionally regarded as an inauspicious event, often associated with a temporary disruption in cosmic and spiritual energies.
