India will face New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 on March 8 in Ahmedabad.
After attending the wedding of Arjun Tendulkar, the son of Sachin Tendulkar, in the morning, the former captain of India made sure he wouldn't miss India's pivotal match against England that same evening.
Cameras constantly panned to the VIP box where Dhoni and his wife, Sakshi Dhoni were watching the high-stakes match when they arrived at the site.
A video clip from the match has gone viral on social media in which Sakshi Dhoni jumps out of her seat in celebration, and MS Dhoni and others calm her down. The pivotal moment occurred in England's 18th over, when Jasprit Bumrah was tasked with restraining the scoring rate.
The right-arm pacer responded to the occasion, keeping the big-hitting Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran in check.
Bumrah delivered his first full-length delivery to Curran. The batter could only push it back to the bowler. Sakshi, who was watching from the stands, leaped up in celebration, believing India had taken a wicket. However, the ball had bounced before reaching Bumrah, as most observers instantly noticed.
However, an overexcited Sakshi jumped in celebration, only for MS Dhoni, who was standing behind her, to ask her to calm down, mouthing the words “Baith Jao."
