India and England will play in the second semi-final in Mumbai on March 5.
Latif predicted that England would defeat India and go to the final while speaking on a Pakistani television program. New Zealand secured its spot in the final of the tournament after routing South Africa in the first semifinal.
India holds a slight edge over England in T20 World Cup meetings, leading the head-to-head record 3–2. In the two previous T20 World Cup semi-final meetings, both teams stand at 1-1.
England put on a convincing effort to overcome India in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final and proceed to the final and the tournament. However, India turned the tables in the 2024 T20 World Cup, led by Rohit Sharma, defeating England and going on to win the trophy.
Despite India’s favorable record, Rashid Latif believes England has the edge this time.
"England will win the semifinals. They are coming from difficult conditions, and 2-3 batters have succeeded. That's what they need, and their middle order is strong. England knows these conditions very well. Even if just one England player performs, that will be enough for India to lose,” Latif said on Pakistani show Haarna Mana Hai.

England has had to fight for each of their wins in the T20 World Cup but showed a better performance in the Super 8s, defeating New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. India, on the other hand, survived a scare at the hands of the USA in the group stage and was defeated by South Africa in the Super 8s.
But they have persisted as well, defeating Zimbabwe convincingly and then the West Indies to qualify for the semis.
