Pakistan needs to defeat Sri Lanka by a huge margin and England to beat New Zealand as well.
Pakistan already had to share points with New Zealand as their Super 8s game was washed out, and needed to win against England to stay in the race for the semis. Pakistan batted first after winning the toss and posted 164/9 thanks to Sahibzada Farhan’s 63 athe nd contributions from Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman.
In response, Shaheen Afridi rattled the England top-order with three quick wickets, but Harry Brook counter-attacked brilliantly to score 100 in 51 balls, and despite a few wickets at the end, England managed to cross the winning line with 2 wickets in hand.
Salman Agha and his Men in Green still have a chance to advance to the semi-finals, but the window is gradually closing. Pakistan's future now rests on its ability to defeat Sri Lanka handily and hope for additional favorable outcomes.
An emotional moment was filmed in the commentary box during the Pakistan-England game. Wasim Akram, the legendary fast bowler, was on air as Harry Brook scored a magnificent century to lead England to victory.
As Brook reached his century and England chased down the total, cameras caught Akram's response. He appeared heartbroken, with gloom in his eyes.
Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja was seen standing next to him, visibly distraught by the setback. A video of the incident has gone viral across numerous social media sites.
