Shivam Dube was named the Player of the Match for his 66 and two wickets against the Netherlands.
Former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar has stated that Shivam Dube has performed admirably in every format of the game over the last year, including an all-round performance against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
Dube hammered 66 off just 31 deliveries as India scored 194 in their last Group A match in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. He then returned with 2/35 from three overs to help limit Scott Edwards' team to 176/7, resulting in a 17-run victory.
During a JioHotstar conversation, Nayar was asked to comment on Dube's bowling against the Netherlands and his performance in the T20 World Cup.
“Not only in the World Cup, but in the last year, he (Dube) has delivered whenever he has been challenged, whether it is with the ball or the bat. He has even bowled with the new ball for India. He (Dube) has worked very hard. He has reduced his weight and increased his strength. He has increased his muscle mass. His bowling pace has also increased. He was bowling at 130-131 kph today," Nayar said on JioHotStar.
Shivam Dube took two wickets, those of Bas de Leede and Zach Lion-Cachet.
“He (Dube) had scored only two runs off the first nine balls. After that, he rotated the strike. He is a player like that. Once his bat starts striking the ball, it is very difficult to stop him. He (Dube) has power for sure, but he has his areas as well: midwicket, long-on, and deep cover, and we have not seen his sweep shot yet," Nayar added.
India will now start their Super 8s journey on February 22 against South Africa in Ahmedabad.
