Nepal overhauled the stiff target of 171 in 19.2 overs.
Dipendra Singh Airee blazed away to an unbeaten half-century as Nepal end their 12-year-long winless run in T20 World Cup with a seven-wicket triumph against Scotland in an inconsequential Group C clash at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday (February 17).
Opting to bowl, Nepal restricted Scotland to 170/7 despite Michael Jones's 45-ball 71. For Nepal, Sompal Kami (3/25) claimed three wickets while Nandan Yadav (2/34) returned with a couple of scalps.
In reply, Nepal overhauled the stiff target in 19.2 overs with Airee's quickfire 50 not out off 23 balls, including three sixes and four fours, being the highlight of their spirited chase.
Earlier, the opening duo of Kushal Bhurtel (43 off 35) and Aasif Sheikh (33 off 27) set the tone with a 74-run stand. Gulsan Jha (24* off 17) also chipped in with two towering sixes at a crucial juncture, putting on an unbeaten 73-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Airee to seal the deal.
