Arshdeep Singh picked one wicket for India against Namibia.
India pacer Arshdeep Singh starred with one wicket as India defeated Namibia in their second Group A match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday, February 12, 2026. With this 93-run win, India now has two wins in the two games they’ve played.
Arshdeep, India's leading T20I wicket-taker, dismissed Jan Frylinck on the fourth delivery of Namibia's fourth over. Jan Frylinck was caught by Shivam Dube within the boundary ropes while attempting a powerful shot off Arshdeep's bowling.
After taking India's maiden wicket in their second match of the present 20-team competition, Arshdeep mimicked Cristiano Ronaldo's (CR7) goal celebration.
His celebration not only drew the attention of spectators but also of his colleagues, particularly Mohammed Siraj, who replaced Bumrah against Namibia and is known to mimic Ronaldo's celebration after dismissing opposing batters.
After the match, Siraj, during a conversation with Arshdeep, rated his celebration out of 10 and also expressed his happiness at Arshdeep’s act.
During the conversation, Arshdeep joked that he'd never seen CR7 and that his celebration was inspired by Siraj.
“I have never seen CR7. I was… after seeing Siraj Bhai, I thought, let’s do it once and see how it goes," Arshdeep said.
“10 out of 10," Siraj replied while rating his teammate’s celebration.
Arshdeep then asked Siraj about the mistake he made while copying the celebration, and Siraj informed him that he jumped too much.
“What was the mistake? Tell me," Arshdeep asked. “You jumped too much,” Siraj answered.
“Since Siraj Bhai has done it so many times, he has got an idea of how to do it. How much jumping does he have to do? I was doing it for the first time. I thought I would do it for Siraj Bhai. I jumped too much out of excitement. But now I will learn from him and try to do it better next time," Arshdeep said.
“But very happy to see this celebration," Siraj added.
“I had thought of doing the celebration earlier. But when I started getting hit, I forgot about it. Then, when I took the wicket first. Then I remembered that I had to do the celebration. So it came out at last," Arshdeep concluded.
The BCCI posted a video of the post-match talk between the two Indian fast bowlers on social media channels on Friday evening (February 13).
