Abhishek Sharma was hospitalized in Delhi due to acute gastroenteritis and dehydration.
While Abhishek is still not fully fit to return to the field, he did provide an update on his recuperation.
The explosive batter appeared in a video uploaded by Arshdeep on social media, where he was questioned about his health, weight loss, and diet as he looks to recover ahead of the high-profile match against Pakistan on Sunday.
Abhishek made it clear in the video that he still only eats rice and dal. The opening batsman also stated that he had shed two kilograms after being admitted to the hospital due to a stomach ailment.

Abhishek Sharma fell ill before the USA game, but powered through India’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener. He scored a golden duck and didn’t take the field afterwards. The southpaw was hospitalized in New Delhi earlier this week to treat acute gastroenteritis and dehydration.
He was discharged from the hospital before the Namibia game, but captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed that Abhishek is "still not fine" and might miss a game or two.
Abhishek's physical preparedness is the main worry for the medical staff because the virus has reportedly caused him to lose weight and stamina.
Although teammate Varun Chakravarthy expressed confidence upon seeing him back in the nets, a final decision would probably depend on how well he performs in the last pre-match training session before the Pakistan game in Colombo.
