Virat Kohli –Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, added another feather to his celebrated cap when he achieved the milestone of 100 One-Day International catches during the final ODI of the six-match series against South Africa at SuperSport Park on Friday.
Earlier, the 29-year-old had 98 catches to his name, taking two more catches during the sixth and final ODI in Centurion Kohli has notched up another milestone in ODI cricket.
With this milestone, Kohli became the 30th cricketer to claim 100 or more catches in the ODIs, as well as equaling Sourav Ganguly, Suresh Raina, and West Indies' Viv Richards, who have 100 catches to their name as well.
Besides this, Kohli hammered his 35th ODI ton in Centurion and became the fastest batsman to cross the 500-run mark in a calendar year in 47 days, previous best was Sachin Tendulkar’s in 2003 in 63 days.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene is on top of the list with 218 catches to his name, while the list is followed by Australia's Ricky Ponting (160 catches) and Mohammad Azharuddin (156 catches), who are second and third on the list, Tendulkar is fourth with 140 catches.
