The Indian team is having practice session n Cape Town, the venue for the first Test against South Africa, starting on January 5, 2018.

Indian team was supposed to play a two day practice game in Boland according to the original schedule, but head coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli requested the match to be scrapped and instead allow them to have practice sessions for the two days allotted to the match.

However, rain has affected their outdoor practice sessions and drills and they were forced to move to the indoors training facilities at the Newlands Cricket Stadium.

Team India’s official Instagram account uploaded the images from the team’s indoor practice sessions.

Sanjay Bangar too took a stroll to inspect the ground, despite the rain.

"You are never sure whether you are getting quality practice games or not. We would rather have practice sessions that are in our control. If you look at the wicket we are playing on right now, it's not even going to be 15 per cent of what we will get in the game," Kohli said.

"There is no point wasting two days, guys going in, scoring quick fifties and coming out. We would rather have them do two sessions like today (Saturday), get into the Test match zone and test ourselves," the Indian captain added.
