The ODI series will begin on August 2 and all matches will be played in Colombo.
India’s batting legend Virat Kohli arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday, July 29, for the three-match ODI series and interacted with fans at the airport. India already leads the T20I series 2-0 with one game to go. The ODIs will be played on August 2, 4, and 7 in Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.
He was all smiles as he greeted fans at the airport and took selfies with them. He was patiently waiting his turn at the check-in counter when star-struck onlookers attempted to photograph him.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and Harshit Rana arrived the day before yesterday.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had requested longer breaks after the T20 World Cup 2024 win but agreed to play in the Sri Lanka ODIs at the request of new head coach Gautam Gambhir. This will be the first time Kohli and Rohit will play in ODIs after the final of the 2023 World Cup.
Virat Kohli boasts of a very good record against Sri Lanka. After Sachin Tendulkar, Kohli has the most runs against Sri Lanka in ODIs, scoring 2594 runs at an average of 63.26 at a strike-rate of 93.91 with 10 centuries and 12 fifties in 53 matches.
The ODI side has begun preparations under the watchful eyes of assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.
