India had posted 503/9d in first innings after choosing to bat first.
In response, Sri Lanka had lost two wickets for 8 runs at stumps on day two and continued to lose wickets on day three as well. Pasindu Sooriyabandara made 80 and Kamindu Mendis made 32 to give the fall of wickets some break.
Much was expected from Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva and he started well with a boundary. However, during the 35th over of the Lankan innings, he had smashed a four on the third ball of the over and then took time before facing up to Manav Suthar for the next delivery.
Sarfaraz didn't like the right-hander wasting time, so he gave him a mouthful before the next delivery.
"You are just wasting time, bro. Don't be scared, play! You are the captain. You are waiting for this," said Sarfaraz to Dhananjaya in a video shared by Sony Sports.
Unfortunately for Dhananjaya, he fell two balls later to Suthar, who found the slip fielder with his outside edge. The Sarfaraz-Dhananjaya moment was the most recent in a game full of heated exchanges.
Sarfaraz Khan is on the field as a substitute for Rishabh Pant, who suffered a shoulder injury, while Dhruv Jurel took up the wicketkeeping gloves.
