Jaiswal and Fernando got into a heated argument after batter was dismissed.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its verdict on the recent on-field altercation between India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando in the ongoing second Test match between the sides being played at the SSC ground in Colombo.
This game began on August 23 and saw Yashasvi Jaiswal hammering a quick 45 runs off 53 balls with 9 fours. Jaiswal was clean bowled by Asith Fernando after hitting him for three fours in the 17th over of India's innings, and as he was walking back to the pavilion, the bowler made some remarks to the batter.
This led to Jaiswal coming back and confronting Fernando, and both got in each other’s faces. They had few words to say to each other, and some shoving happened before the Sri Lankan players got in between to break them up and send Jaiswal on his way back.

Many feared that the ICC would be severe in their assessment of the incident.
“Both players were found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to 'inappropriate physical contact with a player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee, or any other person (including a spectator during an international match)."
As a result, Jaiswal and Fernando were fined 25 per cent of their match fee and were handed one demerit point each. Both players didn't have any previous offenses in the preceding 24-month period,” the ICC statement read.
Both players admitted to the offenses and accepted the sanctions proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for formal hearings.
Meanwhile, India has put on 475/8 on the board in the first innings on day two thanks to 117 by Devdutt Padikkal and half-centuries by Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant, while Dhruv Jurel is unbeaten on 95 as rain brought a halt to play.
