Sri Lanka had ended day four on 84/4 in the chase of 372 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal masterminded the dismissal of Niroshan Dickwella on the final day of the ongoing first Test between Sri Lanka and India on August 19, 2026. Sri Lanka resumed the day at 84/4 after India set a target of 372 runs.
Sonal Dinusha and Dhananjaya de Silva had stonewalled a lot on day 4 and early day 5, but Ravindra Jadeja had broken the deadlock with the dismissal of the Sri Lankan captain. Niroshan Dickwella entered the fray, and much was expected from him, given that he had scored 80 in the first innings.
He made 10 runs off 17 balls, but before his dismissal, he was seen engaging in banter with India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal between deliveries. The banter and gestures by Jaiswal towards Dickwella were captured on the stump mic and the camera.

Dickwella: "Yes?"
Jaiswal: "Yes, I want to see. Come on, show me. Hit him there (pointing towards deep square leg). Come on. Why not?"
Dickwella: "No requirement. Take me to the IPL, then I'll hit."
Jaiswal: "We will, we will. 100%. Come on, hit him for a six and I'll take you to the IPL."
Prasidh Krishna had been bowling short into Dickwella’s body before his edge, egging him to hit a six. Seemingly, Dickwella Jaiswal's words seemed to affect Dickwella, prompting him to create space for a shot over the keeper's head against Krishna's short ball. by Jaiswal’s words and tried to make room to hit Krishna’s short ball over the keeper's head.
However, he managed to only edge the ball to Rishabh Pant, who took an effortless catch.
