SL v IND 2026: Yashasvi Jaiswal achieves rare feat of playing his first 30 Tests at 30 different venues; might earn unique record

Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings for India in the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka, which began on August 15, 2026, at the Galle International Stadium in Galle. India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bat first.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made 32 runs for India before he was run out bizarrely. He played 37 balls, hitting 5 fours in his knock. India finished on 101/1 when lunch was taken on day one after 27 overs.

Interestingly, Jaiswal has added a unique record to his name as he inches towards a very unusual achievement. Jaiswal has played 30^th Tests thus far, including the ongoing one, and all have come at different venues, with Galle International Stadium becoming the 30^th venue.

Jaiswal made his India Test debut in 2023 in Roseau and has so far played Test matches in the Caribbean, South Africa, at home in India, England, Australia and now in Sri Lanka.

Jaiswal has made a strong start to his Test career. In 30 matches, he has scored 2,567 runs in 55 innings, including seven centuries and 13 fifties. His highest score is an unbeaten 214, while his batting average stands at 48.43.

Two Indian batters are ahead of Jaiswal when it comes to playing maximum Tests at different venues. Legendary Sachin Tendulkar appeared at 32 different venues in his first 32 Tests, while the record is held by Sanjay Manjrekar, who played his first 33 Test matches for India at 33 different venues.
