Tilak Varma was the toast of the Indian innings in the ongoing third T20I against South Africa, being played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on November 13, 2024. South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Marco Jansen clean bowled Sanju Samson for his second consecutive duck on the second ball of the match. But then Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma added 107 runs for the second wicket. Abhishek found some form and made 50 in 25 balls with 5 sixes and 3 fours.

After Abhishek, Tilak Varma took over and began propelling India to a total well past 200 runs. He got support from Hardik Pandya (18) and debutant Ramandeep Singh, who hit a six on the first ball he faced and made 15 in 6 balls.

But it was Tilak Varma who ruled as he smashed his maiden T20I century for India, finishing on 107* in 56 balls with 8 fours and 7 sixes to his name and propelled India to 219/6 in 20 overs.

For South Africa, Andile Simelane and Keshav Maharaj picked 2 wickets each.

Tilak Varma became the 12th Indian to score a century in T20Is, the second youngest at 22 years and 5 days to score a T20I ton, and fifth after Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Suryakumar Yadav to score a T20I ton against South Africa.

The cricket fraternity on X was ecstatic about Tilak Varma showcasing his full potential for India with his brilliant century and lauded him.
